The Land

Location: Queenstown, South Africa

With over 100,000 acres of low-fence and free-range terrain, our land offers a truly wild and diverse South African hunting experience. From open plains to dense brush and rolling hills, this landscape is home to an incredible variety of game and provides an authentic, untamed backdrop for every adventure.

WHY HUNTING IN AFRICA IS FOR A GOOD CAUSE

At Hook & Bullet Adventures, we believe ethical hunting is a vital part of conservation. Responsible and regulated hunting supports the protection of wildlife habitats, controls overpopulation, and funds anti-poaching efforts. The revenue generated from hunts directly contributes to local communities, providing jobs, food, and sustainable development. Through our Protein Project, we ensure that nothing goes to waste, with meat donations helping to nourish nearby villages. Every hunt becomes a way to give back—protecting wildlife, supporting families, and preserving South Africa’s natural heritage for generations to come.

RECOMMENDED RIFLE CALIBRE

We as guides and outfitters prefer .30 calibres just on the fact that our game are leaner compared to game species in the Northern Hemisphere, and the hydrostatic shock doesn’t do as much justice compared to an elk or mule deer, for example. This does not mean we dislike any other calibres, but do chat with us about your calibre choice and the species you want to target.

HOW MUCH AMMUNITION AM I ALLOWED TO BRING FOR THE HUNTING TRIP?

A maximum of 50 rounds per firearm is allowed to be brought on your trip.

RIFLES AVAILABLE FOR HIRE

We have small calibres for kids, 223rem, 243win, we also have .17hmr &.22 for small game such as porcupine and the tiny ten species. We also have .308win, 30.06, .300win, .300wsm as well as .375H&H and .416rig for the dangerous game animals. Rifle hire ranges from $70 to $120 per day including ammo in moderation.

Bow Hunting

Bowhunting with Hook & Bullet Adventures isn’t like hunting in Limpopo or the Free State. This is Eastern Cape country — raw, unforgiving, and wild. It’s one of the toughest terrains South Africa has to offer, and it makes you earn every moment, every shot, every step.

We offer two kinds of bow hunts:
You can settle into a bow blind before first light and stay the whole day, waiting patiently over a waterhole or salt lick. Or… you can do it the hard way — on foot, walking and stalking through thick brush and broken hills, where animals don’t forgive mistakes.

This isn’t about sitting in comfort waiting for an easy shot.

This is about the hunt, not just the trophy.
It’s about the discipline to wait, the grit to crawl, and the strength to draw when your lungs are burning and your legs are shaking.

In this terrain, just getting to full draw on a free-range kudu or warthog is already a victory. If you can shoot between 20 and 60 yards — kneeling, standing, off your knees — you’re in the fight.

But when it all comes together? That arrow flies, and the feeling is like no other.

It’s not easy — and that’s the whole point.

Taxidermy

There are many taxidermists in South Africa — but at Hook & Bullet Adventures, we trust one name with our clients’ hard-earned trophies: Karl Human Taxidermy, just outside East London.

We’ve worked with Karl for over 15 years, and not once have we had a problem. He’s more than a taxidermist — he’s a craftsman, a friend, and part of the extended Hook & Bullet family. After the hunt, it’s not uncommon for Karl to join us and our clients for dinner, or for us to meet up with him in East London for lunch where he personally walks each client through their trophy options — iPad in hand, brochures out, and full of helpful insight.

From the moment we drop your trophies off at Karl Human Taxidermy, they’re in safe, skilled hands. We stay involved — because having been on the hunt with you, we help guide the artistic and technical decisions behind each mount. It’s not just a shoulder mount — it’s your memory, your moment, captured forever.

The turnaround time is 10 to 12 months, and when it’s done, your trophy is shipped directly to your front door, with no stress and no surprises.

Karl’s friendly and efficient team takes care of everything behind the scenes:
•  CITES and TOPS permits
•  Professional Hunting Register & license documentation
•  Fair, transparent shipping quotes
•  Clear communication from start to finish

They don’t just deliver trophies —
they deliver peace of mind and world-class work.
